Tunneled Permcath Patient Case

This month’s Wellness Wednesday, Tunneled Permcath Patient Case, highlights how a patient who needed to have an Acute/Temp Vascath replaced with a Tunneled Permcath for hemodialysis was able to have the procedure performed right away, and without ever leaving the bed or the room. Within a few minutes of procedure completion, the X-ray arrived and cleared the Tunneled Permcath for immediate use.

Prior to partnering with Vascular Wellness, this facility had to transport patients to an OR or IR room for these procedures, which was costly and created long delays in treatment due to scheduling and availability of these scarce resources.

Our nurse-placed vascular access procedures are performed at the patient’s bedside and only require local sedation, enabling procedures to be performed when ordered and needed, and treatment to begin much more quickly.

Nurse Clinicians in Action:
Tunneled Permcath in LTACH Patient Case

Tunneled Permcath Patient Case from Vascular Wellness

Vascular Wellness pioneered nurse-placed Tunneled Permcaths. These procedures have many advantages over the primary alternative of physician-placed devices in an Operating Room (OR) or Interventional Radiology (IR) Suite, including lower costs, less coordination, faster treatment, and greater facility, physician, and patient satisfaction.

As in this and every patient case, Vascular Wellness is patient-centered, providing expert care at the bedside – whenever and wherever it is needed – from PICCs, Midlines and PIVs to advanced central lines such as Dialysis Catheters, Internal Jugulars, Mid-Thigh Femorals, and more. 7 days a week, after-hours, weekends & holidays.
