Vascular Access Patient Cases
Vascular Access Patient Cases summarize clinical cases where Vascular Wellness clinicians have encountered and participated in treatment as highlighted in our Nurse Clinicians in Action spotlight series. These cases involve challenging situations or intriguing clinical presentations and may involve more than one Vascular Wellness clinician, as our clinicians have the ability to consult each other while in the field, as well as an on-call Clinical Administrator via a HIPAA-compliant (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) communication app. The presented cases encompass demanding scenarios, requiring advanced vascular access techniques to administer life-saving therapies, and are just a small subset of the hundreds of thousands of cases successfully handled by Vascular Wellness.

Intensive Care Unit
Vascular Access Patient Cases
Intensive Care Unit Vascular Access Patient Cases demonstrate real-life examples of Vascular Wellness clinicians providing expert vascular access in intensive care situations, whether in an ICU or Critical Care Unit (CCU). Our clinicians are trained to perform both standard (e.g., PICCs, Midlines, and PIVs) and advanced vascular access procedures, such as Internal Jugulars, Mid-Thigh Femorals, Axillaries, Quad Lumens, VasCaths, Permcaths, and Tunneled Central Lines at the patient’s bedside. This allows for quick and effective treatment for these patients who often exhibit contraindications and comorbidities, requiring the extra flexibility that additional vascular access devices provide. Our innovative solutions for the complex medical needs of these patients often improves outcomes and reduces costs by enabling prompt therapy at the bedside without the need for transportation or dependency on other medical providers.
Emergency Department
Vascular Access Patient Cases
Emergency Department Vascular Access Patient Cases show how a prompt, responsive, timely, and exceptional mobile provider can prove critical in emergent situations. Similar to an ICU or CCU, these patients may have contraindications and comorbidities, and because Vascular Wellness solely focuses on Vascular Access, we bring innovative and customized clinical solutions to the bedside through a multitude of vascular access devices. Many of our clinicians are hospital-trained and experienced, and understand how to calmly and expertly navigate a stressful situation to provide superior medical services. Our clinicians seamlessly integrate into the medical team to help provide holistic care for these patients.

Pediatric
Pediatric Vascular Access
Patient Cases
Pediatric Vascular Access Patient Cases exhibit Vascular Wellness’ dedication and focus on Vascular Access by highlighting our specialized pediatric training, and addressing the unique nature of pediatric care. Obtaining vascular access in pediatric patients is challenging because of their small, shifting, unstable, and fragile veins. Because of this, Pediatrics often involve anxious and stressed children and adults, and we provide holistic, patient-centric care, taking the time to understand concerns, answer questions and build trust to ensure a comfortable and successful outcome. Vascular Wellness’ expert nurse clinicians bring specialized care to the bedside – whether that’s in the patient’s home or in a hospital – to treat the patient and family compassionately and effectively.
Hospital at Home
Vascular Access Patient Cases
Hospital at Home Vascular Access Patient Cases demonstrate how our hospital-credentialed clinicians provide the same quality, timely and affordable clinical vascular access services at the patient’s bedside for Hospital at Home patients as they do for patients in all healthcare settings. We typically perform prescribed procedures the same day, which helps speed patient therapies and recovery, and helps increase patient and family satisfaction with their care teams and facilities.

Vascular Access Patient Cases
Skilled Nursing & CCRC Vascular Access Patient Cases highlight our prompt, responsive, timely, and affordable clinical vascular access services at Skilled Nursing Facilities and Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Our hospital-credentialed, board-certified, and insured clinicians provide superior and exceptional bedside services by bringing all the focus, skills, and training to every case. This helps avoid unnecessary trips for the patient to the hospital, causing patient and family dissatisfaction and potential patient exposure to hospital-acquired infections and illness.
Dialysis Vascular Access
Patient Cases
Dialysis Vascular Access Patient Cases clearly illustrate Vascular Wellness’ commitment to Advancing Healthcare and Empowering Nurses. Our Vascular Access Board Certified nurse clinicians place Dialysis Catheters, including Acute/Temp VasCaths and Tunneled Permcaths, at the bedside 7 days a week, after-hours, weekends, and holidays, enabling dialysis treatment to start promptly and without delay. Enabling your patients to receive this often life-saving procedure right away at their bedside improves patient outcomes, reduces treatment costs, and increases patient and family satisfaction.

Internal Jugular
Internal Jugular Vascular Access
Patient Cases
Internal Jugular Vascular Access Patient Cases demonstrate how Internal Jugular Central Lines (IJs) prove valuable in providing clinically appropriate access at the bedside. IJs can be an extremely helpful clinical option, especially if a patient has kidney disease, upper extremity cellulitis, or DVT, or had a radical mastectomy. Having the ability to place Advanced Lines such as IJs at the bedside enables our nurse clinicians to assess each situation and patient, collaborate with the medical team, and place the most clinically appropriate line promptly and without the need for additional transportation or medical providers. Advanced Lines is just one way that Vascular Wellness provides the most comprehensive Vascular Access solution at the bedside.
Mid-Thigh Femoral
Vascular Access Patient Cases
Mid-Thigh Femoral Vascular Access Patient Cases demonstrate how Mid-Thigh Femoral Central Lines (MT Fems) prove valuable in providing clinically appropriate access at the bedside. MT Fems can be an extremely helpful clinical option in many of the same situations as IJs, and provide additional flexibility in complex cases such as patient immobility, which may be presented in the case of morbid obesity, upper extremity trauma, or SVC syndrome. Unlike traditional femoral central lines, Vascular Wellness places these Mid-Thigh Femoral Central Lines in the Mid-Thigh, avoiding the inguinal fold which can be a source of potential infection, thereby essentially eliminating this infection risk. Having the ability to place Advanced Lines such as MT Fems enables our nurse clinicians to assess each situation and patient, collaborate with the medical team, and place the most clinically appropriate line promptly and without the need for additional transportation or medical providers.

PICC
PICC Vascular Access
Patient Cases
PICC Vascular Access Patient Cases illuminate why using Vascular Wellness, a Vascular Access Expert and Specialist, can make a life-saving difference. Vascular Wellness follows a holistic, patient-centric care process to ensure the most clinically appropriate and least invasive vascular access device is used. Veins are not renewable resources and vascular access is not a benign procedure, and that is why a transaction-based approach followed by many mobile PICC companies is inferior and sub-optimal. From PIVs through Advanced Lines, Vascular Wellness consistently prioritizes client and patient service as shown by its quality, responsiveness, training, administrative support, superior clinical supplies and equipment, and company culture, and why a PICC is not a commodity and all PICCs are not the same. PICC Patient Cases are just a small subset showing what exceptional vascular access looks like.
Midlines Vascular Access
Patient Cases
Midline Vascular Access Patient Cases demonstrate how Midlines can be valuable in enabling the administration of medication for both short and longer intervals on patients with difficult vein access (DIVA), and they can provide greater flexibility than a PIV by reducing the number of patient sticks as a substitute for multiple PIVs that do not last the course of treatment. Because they are not central lines, they provide cost savings and reduced risk of complications that may come from a central line. Additionally, because they’re not central lines, it is important to follow Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice guidelines and only utilize them for medications that can be safely administered through Midlines. Vesicants such as chemotherapy agents, vasopressors (medications that constrict blood vessels), and antibiotics that are known to be harsh on the veins such as vancomycin are not appropriate for Midlines.
