Vascular Access Experts
As Vascular Access Experts, Vascular Wellness is your on-demand, customized vascular access services solution. Our company offers various services to help your healthcare team address your patient’s vascular access needs. Our vascular access services cover standard and advanced line placement, infection control and prevention, onsite training and education, and full administrative support services, which include our 24/7 Vascular Access Support team, (a) during business hours working closely with a clinician trained to clinically evaluate incoming requests and connect clients with field clinicians, and (b) outside business hours, the ability to escalate to a clinician to help address situations remotely and prioritize needs during the next available clinical hours. Standard line placement includes PIVs, Midlines, and PICCs, and advanced line placement consists of Internal Jugulars, Mid-Thigh Femorals, Axillaries, Quad Lumens, Vas Caths for Dialysis, Tunneled Catheters, Perm Caths, and Arterial Lines. In addition, we function as a seamless extension of our client’s administrative department and provide credentialing, quality reports, and other information as needed internally and externally, such as by The Joint Commission. Our clinicians are salaried W2 employees, and we mandate clinical training, precepting, and skills verification semi-annually.
VASCULAR ACCESS EXPERTS
Vascular Access Experts is a phrase often used by transactional PICC companies that claim to be experts but fall short. An expert, by definition, has comprehensive and authoritative knowledge in their field of practice, comparable to a specialized physician, clinician, or practitioner. At Vascular Wellness, we dedicate 100% of our time, effort, and resources to vascular access, including quality, safety, innovation, and education and training. We actively participate with AVA, INS, CDC, IDSA, Nursing License Boards, Hospital Boards, and The Joint Commission. Our clinicians specialize in the placement of all lines, standard and advanced. Our nurse clinicians are Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC), insured, skill-verified, and salaried W2 employees, which means we ensure consistent, reliable, quality services to the patient’s bedside. With our investment in research and development and our commitment to advancing healthcare and empowering nurses, we pioneered nurse-placed Small Bore and Large Bore Lines! Our vascular access experts can place more types of vascular access devices at the bedside than other vascular access companies or solutions.
Vascular Wellness clinicians place the right line as clinically indicated, at the right time, the first time, as opposed to not being able to place a line or placing an inferior clinical solution. Not being able to place a line or placing the sub-optimal line can result in a lesser patient outcome, less treatment flexibility currently or in the future, delayed therapy, and additional costs. We schedule our employee clinicians to help ensure the redundancy of skill sets across a geographic area so we can properly serve our clients and patients. Other companies with their 1099 model may not even have nurses ready to dispatch as they are subject to nurse availability, delaying treatment.
In addition to potential nurse availability challenges, transactional pay-per-procedure models may create adverse incentives for rushed services at the bedside, as compared to experienced, salaried W2 clinicians trained in vascular access excellence and compassionate care, who can take the time needed to ensure the placement of the clinically appropriate line. Vascular Wellness’ success rate of 98% and 0% insertion-related infection rate, including advanced lines, is superior to other vascular access providers, especially considering most are unable to place advanced lines. Furthermore, Vascular Wellness employs a Director of Research and Development responsible for keeping our employees current on the most recent clinical practice guidelines for vascular access and also helps continually improve upon Vascular Access Services. We are Vascular Access Experts, and we take our subject matter, vascular access, seriously. We never compromise the quality of services we provide to our partners.
Vascular Access Experts
VASCULAR ACCESS NURSE EXPERTS
Obviously, Vascular Wellness’ Vascular Access Nurse Experts place PIVs, Midlines, and PICCs, and we do so at hospitals, skilled care, outpatient centers, hospice, and at-home. We also place Arterial Lines, Small Bore Internal Jugular, Mid-Thigh Femorals, and Axillary Lines, Large Bore Quad Lumen Lines, Dialysis Catheters, and Tunneled Central Lines! Our clinicians arrive at your facility with all the necessary equipment and supplies to deliver unparalleled vascular access services, enabling you to focus on other areas. Our Vascular Access Nurse Experts take the time to independently verify and fully understand every patient’s medical history, including lab reports. This protocol enables our clinicians to fully understand a patient’s current condition and to identify contradictions, which aids in administering optimal therapy. If a clinician has a question or notices a potential risk in the prescribed line, our protocol is to consult with the prescribing doctor immediately. Veins are not renewable resources, and failure to take the time to fully understand the patient’s medical history can lead to poor results. For example, in certain clinical situations, PICCs and Midlines may not be appropriate when the patient has or may soon experience renal failure, has or likely will have Deep Vein Thrombosis (or DVT), or has had a mastectomy. Our Vascular Access Nurse Experts, who can place advanced lines, have the knowledge and skills to properly manage these types of contraindications. In these situations, true Vascular Access Nurse Experts can gain access, preserve the patient’s vascular structure, and optimize patient outcomes.
All of our Vascular Access Nurse Experts focus on safety and risk reduction as important factors to proper vascular access. Vascular Wellness clinicians are trained on and carry an Ultrasound-Guidance machine for vascular access. Utilizing Ultrasound Guidance when placing vascular access devices reduces the risk of hematomas, bleeding, thrombosis, embolization, and infection. The risk for hematoma often occurs when clinicians place unguided lines generally because of a needle punction of a non-targeted vessel. These risks decrease when a skilled nurse clinician uses an ultrasound for vein visualization. In addition, our Vascular Access Nurse Experts always utilize sterile techniques and anti-microbial dressings on our lines, further reducing catheter-related incidences. If permitted in your state of practice, our Vascular Access Nurse Experts can provide X-Ray Clearance of PICCs when tip validation is not appropriate or available, saving you time and money by freeing up your medical resources, potentially avoiding transportation costs, and allowing for prompt therapy. Vascular access nursing should not be a transactional service. Vascular Wellness’ Vascular Access Nurse Experts work as a specialized extension of our client’s medical team affording safe, reliable, holistic patient care, which improves patient outcomes, reduces costs, and enables the medical provider to focus on other areas of care, knowing it has a trusted, committed vascular access partner.
Vascular Access Experts
VASCULAR ACCESS EXCELLENCE
Vascular Access Excellence is what we are all about, and this is far more comprehensive than focusing on PICCs, or excellence in PICCs. Vascular access is a life-saving procedure that should be performed only by trained vascular access nurse experts striving for Vascular Access Excellence every time. Our program goes beyond what is taught in nursing school or when becoming VA-BC certified and prepares our clinicians to deliver expert care in the field of vascular access. Vascular access nursing is a skill that requires regular practice, and a nurse that has not worked with a preceptor and is not placing lines regularly can lose the skill over time. The training our nurse clinicians receive at Vascular Wellness is rigorous. We provide bespoke training in vascular access and include compassionate, holistic, comprehensive care, including medical history review, in-person focused medical exam, x-ray review for tip confirmation, and ECG tip confirmation. We require semi-annual skill verification, ensuring adherence to proprietary policies, procedures, and competencies. Our patient-tailored vascular access services and compassionate, inclusive care result in a dynamic relationship relevant to the patient, their family, and the medical team. With our standard and advanced line training, if a patient’s needs change, our vascular access experts can quickly pivot and find an optimal solution. Our on-demand, compassionate, holistic care paired with our vascular access nurse expert’s unparalleled skills make us the natural, worry-free choice for your vascular access needs, whether as a supplemental or comprehensive solution.
