Central Line Dressing Change Training
Central Venous Catheter Line Dressing Change Training
The Central Venous Catheter Line Dressing Change course is now incorporated into the Central Line Care and Maintenance Training course. The Central Line Care and Maintenance Training course includes teaching and training nurses how to properly and safely perform central line dressing changes that mitigate the risk of infection. Participants receive a comprehensive overview of dressing change procedures, how to manage risks during a dressing change, how dressings support and optimize catheter function, and how a properly applied dressing can lower the chance of infection. Through didactic (classroom), simulation, and hands-on training, participants gain confidence in choosing the appropriate dressing supplies and performing safe, sterile dressing changes, applicable to the specific CVC line. Instruction is customized to the unique healthcare settings of the participants involved, their specific supplies and equipment, as well as addressing problem areas identified prior to or during the course. Upon completion, participants will understand the importance of central venous catheter line dressings. In addition, participants will be able to assess a patient’s risk as related to their line, use a dressing to decrease the chance of infection, and execute a complication-free dressing change.
